To generalise; the HMRC are looking for any persons working in what can be classed as disguised employment in a bid to reduce their tax bill. There are some steps that you can take to reduce your risk of falling under the IR35 law. •Have a number of clients on your books that evenly contribute your income. •Show that you advertise for new clients; a website is a good way of doing this. •Make sure your contracts are IR35 friendly. Your accountant will be able to advise if you are at risk of falling under IR35 and what further steps you can take to prevent this from happening.
